Desktop Local user guide

This documentation section provides comprehensive instructions for operating the Desktop Local client.

Desktop Local – a specialized version of the Desktop client designed to ensure seamless access to video surveillance in any conditions. Desktop Local is a convenient and reliable solution for continuous monitoring of cameras and access to recording archives, even in the absence of or with an unstable Internet connection. This autonomy is made possible by connecting Desktop Local directly to the media server, providing uninterrupted access to video data.

Please note: While Desktop Local is a simplified version compared to the full Desktop client, it delivers the core functionality you require for comprehensive video monitoring and archive retrieval.

You can only use Desktop Local on devices that operate on Windows.

The main differences between Desktop Local and the Desktop client are:

  • The application works without direct interaction with the VMS platform, communicating directly with the media server.

  • Desktop Local can operate without an internet connection.

Only one user can use Desktop Local on their PC.

Desktop Local can be installed alongside the Desktop client. Only one application can run at a time: if the Desktop client is running, Desktop Local won’t start, and vice versa.

Next, you find the hardware and software requirements with regard to the number of streams.

Adherence to these requirements ensures the stable operation of the Desktop client, which is capable of simultaneously displaying up to 150 cameras across a maximum of four monitors.
