What is Mediaserver?

Mediaserver is a video surveillance server used for processing and distributing video streams, transmitting and storing content from IP cameras.

What is Mediaserver used for?

The server is designed for receiving video streams and data from cameras and devices, processing them, recording them in an archive, and distributing them to users in selected formats.

How many cameras/streams can Mediaserver work with?

Mediaserver can work with 5000 or more streams per server, capturing, recording to archive, and transmitting them to the user. The number of streams that can be processed depends on the resources of the server used.

How many simultaneous users can Mediaserver serve?

Mediaserver can serve 10,000 or more user sessions per server (this value is not the maximum).

How is video-audio-data information archive formed by Mediaserver?

By default, the archive is recorded in two-minute segments and indexed with hourly indexes for search and navigation on the DVR.

How can video-audio-data information be viewed with Mediaserver?

Video-audio-data information can be viewed by exporting it in HLS, RTSP, and raw archive formats (playable only by VSaaS's Low Latency player) and HLS\RTSP protocols.

What products does Mediaserver interact with in VSaaS?

Mediaserver works with such components as VMS and Analytics.

VMS is a management center (VMS) for orchestrating all components of the video surveillance system, ensuring control over its functionality, and interacting with other products of the VSaaS platform.

VMS:

  • Has a simple administration interface

  • Possible integration with customer systems

  • Supports current interfaces

    • Web client

    • Mobile applications

    • Desktop client

Can Mediaserver interact with other Video Surveillance systems?

The server can be used in combination with other Video Surveillance systems, however, Mediaserver shows the most productive work with VSaaS platform products.

What types of licenses exist for Mediaserver?

There is only one type of license for the Mediaserver product – LIC-XXXX-MS. This license for Mediaserver provides access to the server's functionality without any limitations. All restrictions are specified in the license agreement.

How to install Mediaserver?

Before you start Mediaserver installation, see the necessary requirements. Install Mediaserver by following the installation guide that is on the Install Mediaserver page.

How to choose equipment?

Choosing equipment that suits your tasks and budget is a fairly complex task. Processors have a very wide range of performance and price.

The load on the server depends on the settings:

  • Transcoding

  • Archive recording

  • Archive size and duration

  • Parameters of incoming streams

  • Number of users

We recommend that you contact technical support for equipment selection.

Can other server software be run alongside Mediaserver?

It is not recommended to run anything other than Mediaserver on the server, however, such a possibility exists. You can run any other service on the same server, but there may be conflicts in some settings and unstable server operation.

When contacting support, you may be asked to remove services that are causing suspicion.
