Activate and deactivate a bridge

If required, the administrator may activate and deactivate a bridge via the Administrator client.

A bridge user can also activate and deactivate their bridge via the web client interface. For details, see this article.

Below, you find the instructions on how the administrator can activate and deactivate a bridge.

Activate a bridge

  • The administrator can activate a bridge for a user only if the user provides a MAC address or a serial number to the administrator. This scenario is possible when contacting a support team.

  • A user’s bridge must be plugged into the socket and connected to the Internet.

To activate a bridge, the administrator should follow the steps:

  1. Devices > Bridges list > Activate bridge.

  2. In the opened Bridge activation window, complete the fields:

  • Name. Give a name to the bridge. This name will be displayed in the list of the activated bridges in the Administrator client and the user’s interface. The user can change this name later.

  • User. From the drop-down list, list a user who you’re activating a bridge for. The list contains only the users with the Mediabridge > Bridge. General permission level. The administrator can add only one user during the activation process. Further, this user can grant other users access to the bridge cameras via the web interface.

  • Select the activation method. A serial number and a MAC address can be found on the bridge device. This information is provided by the user who you’re activating the bridge for.

    • Via Mac address. Selecting this option opens the MAC address field to be completed with a MAC address provided by the user. A MAC address is represented as a 12-digit sequence of numbers and Latin letters from A to F.

    • Via serial number. Selecting this option opens the Serial number field to be completed with a bridge serial number provided by the user.

  1. To complete the activation process, select Submit. To cancel the action, select Cancel.
