Licensing

The products are licensed either offline or online. Currently, online licensing is used to activate licenses. However, it is possible to perform the offline license activation.

Online licensing

Online licensing is performed via the License Management System.

The License Management System is a software license management system that enables you to perform the following actions:

  • Issue licenses.

  • Check licenses.

  • Check the following details:

    • The license expiration.

    • The update expiration.

    • The expiration of technical support.

The capabilities of the License Management System

Reconnection to the license server

Applications send requests to validate the license and retrieve the license parameters. If the license server is unavailable, the application attempts to reconnect to the license server.

If there is no connection to the license server, connection attempts are made in the following way:

  • For VMS and Analytics – every 24 hours. The total number of connections:

    • For VMS – three (3) times for the Administrator client; five (5) times for the Web client.

    • For Analytics is three (3) times.

Upon completion of the connection cycle, the software is blocked, and the user receives a corresponding message.

  • For Mediaserver – once. Next, the application will run for 30 minutes, after which will be blocked.

For more information about the license server messages in the user interfaces, see the License expiration. License server unavailability documentation page.

License verification

The sequence of steps involved in the validation of a license proceeds as follows:

  1. The application sends a request to validate the license and receive the license parameters.

  2. The license server confirms the authenticity of the license and sends the data to the application.

  3. The application applies the received data and displays an information message confirming a successful license activation.

If the license validity period is about to expire, the user receives a corresponding message.

If the license is invalid, the user receives a corresponding message. The application functionality is blocked while preserving all the settings and resources of the user.

For more information about license server messages in user interfaces, see this documentation page.

Online licensing enables users to check the status of their licenses. For more information, see this documentation page.
