Record a video segment during playback

Video recording during playback. Whether it’s an important moment in a live stream or a valuable frame from archived footage, you can capture video segments of up to 10 minutes. Simply tap the Record button in the player, then save your clip in the app, send it to your gallery, or share instantly via messengers or any available apps.

The Record button is available in the camera player both in Live and Archive modes:

  • In the player of a separate camera

  • In the layout – when a separate camera is open full screen

The maximum duration of a single video is 10 minutes.

The recording option is supported for all cameras the user has access to:

  • Video surveillance cameras

  • Intercom cameras

  • Bridge cameras

  • Cameras with the embedded Agent software

Record a video segment

To record a video segment:

Before you start, if required, select the start time of the recording in the calendar or navigate the timeline.

  1. On the action panel of the camera player, select Record. The button can be placed under More > Start video recording.

  1. Select the audio recording mode for the video segment:

  • Continue with sound. This mode uses your mobile device microphone. The final video will combine the original camera audio with any sound captured by your microphone during recording.

  • Continue without sound. This will record the video segment only; no audio will be captured or included.

When Continue with sound selected, a system prompt will ask for microphone access, unless you have already granted permission.

When microphone access is denied, a secondary dialogue will appear to confirm your choice. Select one of the following options to proceed:

  • Continue: select this to proceed with recording without audio.

  • Settings: select this to navigate to the app’s system configuration page, where you can modify and enable audio input permissions.

Recording Confirmation

Once all settings are configured, the recording will begin. You will see the following indicators:

  • Video duration: the elapsed time of the recording will be displayed on the player screen.

  • The Stop button: The Record button will change its appearance to the Stop icon (if it is located on the panel) to indicate that recording is in progress and can be stopped.

Active recording won’t be affected by the following actions:

  • Use the Mute/Unmute button in the player.

  • Switch the video playback quality.

  • Change of playback speed.

  • Add a user event.

  • Pause video playback.

  • Navigate the timeline.

  • Call out the Camera events menu.

  • Play back events.

  • Navigate to a specific date and time.

  • Switch between Archive and Live.

  • Switch from portrait camera view to landscape and back.

The following actions stop the active recording, and any unsaved footage is lost:

  • Return to the previous screen.

  • Navigate to the camera settings.

  • Manage action buttons on the Set player actions panel.

  • Manage layouts.

  • Switch to another camera in the location, camera group, or layout by swiping.

  • Minimize the application.

  • Close the application.

Recording stops and the video segment is saved to the My Screenshots and videos section of the mobile app when any of the following occurs:

  • The maximum video length of 10 minutes is reached.

  • There is insufficient storage space on the device.

  • An incoming call is received: in-app or external.

Stop recording and manage the video segment

To stop recording, select the Stop button if it is located on the panel. Otherwise, navigate More > Stop video recording.

When video recording is stopped:

  • The captured video segment is automatically saved in the app under the My Screenshots and videos section.

  • A bottom sheet opens, providing options for managing the video segment.

    • Saved to my videos. You can find the video segment saved by navigating this way on the Other tab > My screenshots and videos > the Videos tab.

    • Save to gallery. The video segment is automatically saved to the gallery of your mobile device. The video is saved as an .MP4 file using the H.264 codec.

    • Share. By using this feature, you will send the video segment directly to messaging apps, email, or cloud storage without saving it to your device gallery.

    • Delete. Use to delete a recording.
