Camera (Agent) integration into a LAN architecture.
The Camera (Agent) is an IP camera with a specialized Agent edge service integrated into the camera firmware by the device manufacturer. The Camera (Agent) functions as an independent edge device. The built-in Agent service enables the camera to transmit video, audio, and metadata directly to the video surveillance platform without additional intermediary devices. To enable direct communication with the video surveillance platform, provide the Camera (Agent) with Internet access.

System components and functions
The system components interact as follows:

Camera (Agent): connects to the network switch, which provides the local network infrastructure for data transmission.

Network switch: serves as the central network node that connects all devices within the local area network (LAN). It forwards traffic from the Camera (Agent) to the router. All system components connect to the switch using Ethernet network cables.

Router: connects to the network switch and provides Internet connectivity. It routes traffic from the Camera (Agent) to the video surveillance platform through a single Internet connection.
The network equipment configuration depends on the site size and infrastructure requirements. The system supports both separate network components (dedicated switches and routers) and an integrated solution – a high-performance router with a built-in network switch. An integrated solution reduces hardware footprint and simplifies network management.
