Manually add cameras and video streams
You can manually add a camera. This is possible without creating a location (address), in which case the camera is added to the All Cameras group (the group is displayed in the camera tree, see Tree View). You can also add a camera to a specific address in the camera tree branch (see Custom Tree View).
To manually add video streams, follow these steps:
Configure all network settings for the camera.
Turn on the camera.
To add a camera manually, follow the steps:
Manually create a camera entity.
Select the address according to the Central Addressing System (CAS) when adding the camera entity.
When you manually add a camera to the existing location, the address is automatically identified.
If you add a camera to a custom camera tree, the address input isn’t required.
Choose the media server group.
The action isn’t required. If no specific media server groups are defined, the system will automatically search for and select the media server with the least load from all available media servers that are not part of any group.
If specific media server groups are defined, the system will conduct a search within these groups to identify the media server with the least load.
Prepare the RTSP links for the video streams and paste them into the Stream address field on the Video Streams tab. To get the stream links, refer to the documentation of the camera manufacturer for further instructions. For more details about the video streams, see the Video Streams documentation page.
Select Add.
As a result:
The request is sent to the Mediaserver.
The Mediaserver captures the video stream. This initializes the stream.
The Unknown status is assigned to the video stream.
The Initializing status is assigned to the camera.
A re-request is sent to the Mediaserver, after which the video streams become active.
The video stream is assigned the Active status.
The camera is assigned the Active status.
If the capture of the video stream is unsuccessful, the status of the stream is updated to Inactive, and the camera also receives the Inactive status.
The VMS assigns an ID and UUID to the video stream.
A re-request is sent to the camera. If VMS does not have a profile for this camera, the platform requests the following camera details:
The MAC address.
serial_number
.The vendor.
The model.
If the vendor and/or model parameters were not obtained, the process is terminated.
The camera data is recorded in the camera profile and NetworkDevice.
Next, you can manage manually the camera configurations. For details, see the Configuration documentation page.
Once the video streams are set up successfully, you can adjust the camera settings.
The Provisioning tab is not dispalyed if you manually add a camera.
