The Administrator cabinet is a centralized tool for managing the video surveillance system, where the Bridge device is integrated into the overall infrastructure. Before the end user can independently add the Bridge device and cameras to the platform, the administrator prepares the required environment.
Administrator access levels (permissions)
To manage the Bridge device lifecycle on the video surveillance platform, the VMS administrator access level includes the following permissions:
-
Devices > Bridge. General – view current settings.
-
Permissions to manage cloud archive recording settings for cameras connected through Bridge:
-
Devices → Bridge:
-
Bridge. Configure HD archive recording
-
Bridge. Configure SD archive recording
-
-
To manage device firmware, the administrator requires the Device firmware access level and all permissions included in this level:
-
View firmware list
-
View firmware details
-
Upload firmware
-
Edit firmware
-
Delete firmware
The required permissions are assigned in the administrator profile or through an administrator role.
The administrator cannot view video streams from cameras connected through the Bridge device. These cameras are hidden from the camera monitoring section of the Administrator cabinet. Video is available only to the end user who has access to the camera. This access separation ensures that the administrator only views the technical device parameters required for configuration.
Manage Bridge
Edge devices allow end users to connect new equipment to the platform independently. For more information, see the Bridge user guide documentation section.
Bridge edge device configuration and management are available through two separate administrative environments; each designed for specific tasks.
The Bridge device web interface is a universal tool used by technical specialists and users to configure and manage the Bridge device. For more information, see the Bridge: device web interface documentation section.
In the Administrator cabinet, the Edge devices > Bridge section provides access to Bridge device management on the video surveillance platform. The following management functions are available:
-
Activate or deactivate the Bridge device for a user.
-
Set the maximum number of video cameras (up to 8) that each Bridge device can connect to the video surveillance platform.
-
Upload and update Bridge device firmware. Remote over-the-air (OTA) updates for the Bridge device. OTA (Over-the-Air) technology enables device updates without requiring physical access to the hardware. The new feature is available for both administrators and end users. Administrators have full control over the firmware repository and can initiate updates for selected Bridge devices. We implemented a phased rollout mechanism with support for A/B testing of firmware updates, making the update process safer and more reliable. Instead of releasing a new firmware version to all devices at once, administrators can gradually enable access to the update for selected users only. This enables pilot testing in real-world operating environments, minimizing risks and ensuring system stability before a full-scale rollout. New firmware versions can be uploaded through the updated System > Clients and Licensing > Installation files section. Updating a specific Bridge device is initiated from the General information tab in the Updates section of a Bridge card. For a step-by-step guide, refer to the administrator documentation: Installation files and Bridge list.
-
The administrator can configure recording settings for camera streams connected through Bridge. If the administrator disables recording for a stream or restricts the ability to change the setting, the user cannot modify these settings in the user interface. On the Archive tab of the device management profile, each camera has the Edit archive recording settings icon. The administrator can configure recording parameters separately for streams with different resolutions (HD/SD). This setting is available based on the following admin permissions:
-
-
Bridge. Configure HD archive recording
-
Bridge. Configure SD archive recording
-
For more information, see the Bridge > Archive section documentation section for administrators.
-
View device information and archive storage locations for connected cameras (cloud or SD card).
Logging
For administrators. The Administrator cabinet provides information about registered events from Bridge devices in the Logging section. For more information, see the Events. Administrator cabinet documentation section.
For technical specialists (advanced level). Advanced logging is available for detailed system analysis. For configuration instructions, see the Install platform and configure monitoring and logging documentation section.
User access levels
Before the end user can independently add the Bridge device and cameras to the platform, the administrator prepares the required environment.
To connect cameras to the platform through the Bridge device, the user requires the appropriate access permissions. The administrator assigns the access level for Bridge usage and camera management in the Administrator cabinet under Administration > Users in the selected user profile.
Required access levels:
-
Devices
-
Bridge. General
-
Bridge. Archive
-
For more information about assigning user permissions, see the Users documentation section for administrators.
Monitor user devices
Resource monitoring: The Users section provides the administrator with summary information about the number of Bridge devices assigned to each user profile on the platform.
For more information, see the Users documentation section for administrators.
