Users

The Users section provides a comprehensive directory of all users authorized to access video surveillance system. To ensure precise access control, the VMS defines three distinct user categories:

  • Users created in the customer's system. In the table, such users are marked as Created via billing.

  • Users created by the VMS system administrator. In the table, such users are marked as Created by administrator. Such users are temporary, their access to the system is valid until the date specified by the administrator and can be limited functionally.

  • Subusers. Subusers are created by the primary user via the VMS web interface.

Only administrator-created accounts possess the necessary permissions to manage sub-user accounts.

The section includes two tabs:

  • Users features a list of users created by the system administrator and via billing.

  • Subusers features a list of all sub-users.

Search and filtering

Each tab provides user search.

On the Users tab, search by user name and login.

On the Subusers tab, search by subuser name and login, or by the name and login of the user who added the subuser.

The Users tab provides the following filters:

  • By the user creation period. Specify the date and time in the Created from and/or Created to fields.

  • By user type – created by an administrator or created through billing.

  • By user status – Active, Blocked, Expired.

  • By the name of the administrator who added the users.

The Subusers tab provides the following filter:

  • By the subuser creation period. Specify the date and time in the Created from and/or Created to fields.

Overview of users in the table

On the Users tab, the table displays the following information for each user:

  • User details: login, name, and status. Visual user status indicators are available. The interface clearly displays whether a user is Active, Inactive, or Blocked.

  • Number of devices the user has access to: total number and number of devices of each type.

  • Analytics licenses: total number and number of licenses of each level.

  • User creation details: creation date and user type. The Created by columns display Each user profile on the Users tab displays the name and login of the admin who originally registered them in the system. Each user profile on the Subusers tab displays the name and login of the user who originally registered them in the system. If the higher-level administrator or user who created the account is subsequently removed from the system, their specific details will be replaced by a dash (–).

  • For users of the Created by administrator type, the row end displays the vertical ellipsis icon (⋮) button to open the context menu and block or unblock the user (see Block user).

On the Subusers tab, the table displays the following information for each subuser:

  • User details: login and name.

  • Number of devices the subuser has access to: total number and number of devices of each type.

  • Analytics licenses: total number and number of licenses of each level.

  • Subuser creation details: creation date, as well as the name, login, and status of the user who created the current subuser. If the user who created the account is deleted, these columns display a dash “-”.

To view a user profile card, select a relevant entry in the list.

Mass password reset

For centralized password management, the Reset password button is available at the top‑right corner of the Users page. This button enables simultaneous password resets for all administrator-created user accounts (system users).

Visibility of the Reset password button is controlled by the permission for the administrator Special users > Reset system user passwords.

Password reset behavior:

  • After a password reset, users are redirected to the login page to enter a new password.

  • If any users are logged in at the time of the reset, they are forcibly signed out and redirected to the login page to re‑authenticate.

Block a user

The Blocking functionality is available to users created by administrators. The status of such a user must be Active.

The Block and Unblock buttons are introduced, allowing administrators to instantly restrict or restore access directly from a system user's profile card. The function partially restricts user access to the functionality of all client interfaces – web interface, mobile application, and desktop client. The user will be able to authenticate within the interface; however, access to cameras, video playback, and certain other functions will be disabled.

To block or unblock a user, select the vertical ellipsis image-20260527-081524.png icon next to their name and Block or Unblock.
