Prepare hardware and network
Before connecting the Camera (Agent) to the video surveillance platform, make sure that the infrastructure is ready:
-
Single network segment: the Camera (Agent), router, and switch must be located in the same local network. For more information, see the Camera (Agent) integration into a LAN architecture documentation section.
-
Internet access: the local network must have internet access to transmit data to the video surveillance platform.
Prepare the Camera (Agent) device
-
Unpack the camera: remove the Camera (Agent) from the package.
-
Camera identification data: to activate the camera on the video surveillance platform, you need unique identifiers located on the package, camera body (label), or in the user manual:
-
MAC address: a unique network identifier of the device.
-
Serial number (S/N): the factory-assigned device number.
-
QR code: used to connect the camera to the video surveillance system through the mobile app.
We recommend saving this information before mounting the Camera (Agent), as access to this information can be difficult after installation.
-
Connect power using one of the following methods:
-
Through a router or switch: make sure that the network equipment supports Power over Ethernet (PoE). In this case, power and data transmit to the camera through the same network cable.
-
Through a 12 V DC adapter: if PoE support is unavailable, use an external power adapter. Connect the adapter to the device power connector and plug it into a 220 V power outlet.
-
Connect to the local network: connect the camera to the switch using a network cable, and connect the switch to the router.
-
Provide internet access: connect the camera to a switch or router that connects to the provider network to provide internet access for the local network.
-
Connect the camera to the video surveillance platform: when the camera is ready, add it to the video surveillance platform through the user web interface or mobile app. For more information, see the Connect Camera (Agent) to the platform documentation page.
If any questions occur during camera preparation or connection, see the Camera (Agent) device FAQ documentation page, which provides answers to the most common questions.
Configure additional camera settings
If required, configure the IP camera image settings, including the compression codec, frame rate (FPS), resolution, and other parameters. Use the manufacturer user manual included with the camera or available on the manufacturer official website.
