To create an access point, the following conditions apply:
-
Permissions: the administrator needs the following permissions:
-
Platform tree: view and manage the platform tree.
-
Access points: View list of access points, view an access point, and create an access point.
-
-
Licensing: an available license matching the selected access point type is required.
To further manage an access point, assign more permissions to the administrator at the Access points level.
Create an access point in the manually-created platform tree
To start creation of an access point, select one of the options from the final location of the branch:
-
From the context menu of the Branch name, select the Create access point button.
-
From the context menu of the Access control section of the location, select the Create access point button.
-
From the list of all access points of the final location. Select the Create access point button from the top-right.
Once selected, the system opens a configuration form:
-
Access point name: enter a unique name (maximum 255 characters).
-
Access point type: this parameter determines which devices and how many of them connect to the access point. From the drop-down menu, select an access point zone type:
Entrance zone
The Entrance zone of an access point organizes passage into a territory or premises.
Allowed devices and quantities:
-
1 intercom device
-
1 BLE device
Limitations: you can connect no more than one device of each specified type.
Drive-in zone
The Drive-in zone organizes vehicle access through gates, barriers, and other entry structures.
Allowed devices and quantities:
-
1 actuator device
-
1 BLE controller device
Limitations: you can connect no more than one device of each specified type.
Fixed zone
The Fixed zone represents an access point type that allows connecting a total of two devices belonging to different types. This zone type enables combined pedestrian and vehicle passage scenarios using various devices. Each connected device must belong to a distinct type, such as a combination of 1 intercom and 1 actuator.
Allowed devices:
-
Intercom
-
BLE device
-
Actuator devices (planned in future releases)
Limitations:
-
You can connect any two device types from the specified list.
-
The total number of devices cannot exceed two.
Universal
The Universal zone is the most flexible type of access point, designed for building complex access control scenarios. This type allows you to add any number of devices and their combinations:
-
Intercom
-
BLE device
-
Actuator devices (planned in future releases)
To confirm creation, select Create.
Upon successful creation of the access point:
-
An Access control section for the selected location is generated if it didn’t exist previously.
-
The system deducts one matching license.
-
The system records an event in Logging > User actions > Administrators containing the user login and the access point UUID.
The next step is to add devices to the access point and manage access of end users. This is done from the access point card. To view the access point card, open the platform tree, expand the target location, and select Access control. In the access point list, select the target row. The following section describes the access point card details. See View and edit an access point.
Create an access point in the auto-generated platform tree
You can create an access point in the auto-generated platform tree in two ways:
-
From the final location of the branch: use the instructions above.
-
From the platform tree header: Select the Create access point option. In this case, specify the target location for the access point in the opened form.
The next step is to add devices to the access point and manage access of end users. This is done from the access point card. To view the access point card, open the platform tree, expand the target location, and select Access control. In the access point list, select the target row. The following section describes the access point card details. See View and edit an access point.
