Prepare the network and equipment
Before connecting the Bridge and cameras to the video surveillance platform, make sure that the infrastructure is ready for operation.
-
Single network segment: the Bridge, IP surveillance cameras, router, and switch must be physically connected to the same local network.
-
WAN access: the local network must have Internet access to allow the Bridge to communicate with the cloud platform.
-
Prepare cameras: before adding cameras to the platform, check that they are ready for operation. Enable the ONVIF service and configure an access profile in the web interface of each camera. Manual device adding can also require direct RTSP stream URLs. For more information, see the Connect cameras to the Bridge documentation section.
Step #1. Start using the Bridge
-
Unpack the Bridge: remove the Bridge from the package.
-
Device identification data: to activate the device on the platform, use the unique identifiers located on the sticker on the Bridge case. For more information, see the Bridge: technical specifications documentation section.
-
MAC address: a unique network identifier of the device.
-
Serial number (S/N): the factory device number.
Save this data in a convenient way before installing the Bridge, as access to this information can be difficult after installation.
-
Connect power: insert the power adapter plug included in the package into the corresponding DC connector on the Bridge case. Connect the power adapter to a 220 V power outlet.
-
Connect to the local network (LAN): use a network patch cable (Ethernet cable) to connect the Bridge port to the switch port.
-
Connect to the Internet: to ensure stable data transmission to the platform, make sure that the local network has Internet access. Connect the switch to the router configured to use the provider Internet connection.
-
Check the connection: wait until the Bridge display shows the current IP address. The displayed address confirms that the device initializes successfully on the network. For more information, see the Bridge: technical specifications documentation section.
Step #2. Add the Bridge to the video surveillance platform
The process of adding the Bridge to the video surveillance platform, pairing cameras, configuring and managing them, including providing camera access to other users, is performed through the video surveillance web user interface in the Devices > Bridges section. To do this:
-
Open the video surveillance web user interface. For more information, see the Where to start. Authorization. Web user documentation section.
-
On the Devices > Bridges tab, add the Bridge to the video surveillance platform and connect the required cameras. Follow the detailed instructions in the Bridges documentation section for the web user.
-
In the mobile application, the user can view information about connected Bridges and associated cameras in the Other > My devices > Bridges section. For more information, see the Bridge documentation section for the mobile application user.
Add the Bridge by the administrator
The administrator can add the Bridge to the video surveillance platform and activate it. This scenario is available only after the user provides the MAC address or serial number of the Bridge to the administrator. This scenario applies when the user contacts the support service or uses other available communication channels.
Step #3. Connect cameras to the platform
For detailed instructions on connecting cameras to the platform through the Bridge, see the Connect cameras to the Bridge documentation section.
