User guide. Access point

About the section

This documentation page provides information about what an access point is for an end user and how to manage access to a location using a smartphone.

How the user gets access

Once the administrator completes all required configuration, the user can access the location using a smartphone with the mobile app installed.

The user manages access through the mobile app: opens a door using an intercom, uses a BLE key, or controls other devices associated with the access point from the Access point widget and the Access tab.

Example: An intercom and a BLE device for keyless door access are installed in an apartment building. To provide residents and their guests with convenient, modern access, an administrator creates an Entrance access point at the location address and names it "Entrance 1." The administrator associates the intercom used for calls and communication between residents and visitors and the BLE device used for keyless door access from a smartphone with the access point.

A resident only needs a smartphone with the mobile app installed and Bluetooth (BLE) enabled. The access point appears in the Access section of the mobile app. The user sees the access point as the location address with "Entrance 1" inside it, along with the available access devices – the intercom and BLE keys. The user can open the door through the intercom or using a BLE key.

When the user uses BLE, the smartphone sends a BLE signal to the controller at the entrance. The system controller automatically identifies the smartphone, checks whether the user has access, and unlocks the door.

Access point in the mobile app

In the mobile app, an Access point is displayed to the user as the location address, the name of the access point at that location, and the devices available to the user that are associated with the access point. The user can choose the most convenient way to manage access based on the available devices:

  • Access tab – provides a complete list of available access points and devices. The user can open an access point with one tap or select a specific device to manage access. For detailed instructions, see the Access documentation page for the mobile app.

  • Access point widget – provides quick access from the smartphone home screen. The user can open a door, gate, or barrier with one tap without opening the app. For detailed instructions, see the Widgets documentation page for the mobile app.

  • Automatic BLE opening – the most convenient way to access a location. When the user approaches a door, elevator, or barrier, the system automatically identifies the user's smartphone by its Bluetooth signal and opens the access point. The user does not need to take the smartphone out of a pocket or bag. For detailed instructions on configuring a BLE key, see the BLE device documentation section.

Interactive onboarding in the mobile app

To help users get started quickly with Access points, the mobile app provides Interactive Onboarding directly in the Access section (the i icon). The user can return to the tips at any time.

How access point opens

A common Open button is available for each access point. The user does not need to select the device used to open the access point. The system automatically identifies a suitable device and sends the open command to the devices associated with the access point in sequence.

When the user selects the common Open button, the system sends the open command to the devices associated with the access point in the following order:

  1. BLE device

  2. Intercom

  3. Actuator

If a device successfully executes the command, the system stops further attempts. If the device does not respond, the system automatically sends the command to the next device in the list.

The entire sequence runs automatically and is not displayed to the user. The user sees only the result – the access point opens successfully.

When the access point opens successfully, the Open button turns green.

Configure devices at an access point

In the mobile app, the user can manage the settings of available devices associated with access points.

The available options depend on the device type:

  • BLE devices – configure the opening method and manage digital BLE keys.

  • Intercoms – open the door, manage codes and guest links, and configure photos for door opening.

BLE device

BLE devices provide contactless access using a smartphone. BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technology allows a smartphone to function as a digital key: the system controller automatically identifies the smartphone by its Bluetooth signal and opens a door, elevator, or barrier.

The administrator adds a BLE device to an access point and provides the user with a permanent or temporary digital key. The key is then automatically available for immediate use. The user manages the key settings in the mobile app in the Access section. The user can choose the preferred opening method:

    • Automatic opening (hands-free): the user approaches a door, elevator, or barrier – the system controller automatically identifies the smartphone by its Bluetooth signal and opens the door or barrier instantly. The user does not need to take the smartphone out of a bag or pocket.

    • One-tap opening (manual control): the user opens the required door or barrier by selecting a button in the app interface, either through the widget or on the Access tab, exactly when access is needed. This option is ideal when the user frequently often pass by entrances without going through them on the premises. Manual control prevents accidental lock openings when the user moves around the area, while providing full control over access.

For detailed instructions on configuring BLE access, see the BLE device mobile app guide.

Intercom

In the mobile app, the user can manage access through an intercom and choose the most convenient way to open the door: directly from the app through an access point, using a temporary code, a guest link, or face recognition.

The available features depend on the intercom capabilities and its configuration:

  • Open the door. The user opens the door directly from the mobile app in the access point through the Access tab or the Access point widget. For more information, see the Open the intercom door documentation page.

  • Generate a code. Access by a digital code, if the intercom supports this feature. On the Visitors tab, the mobile app user can manage access: add visitors (maximum 5) and create a temporary intercom code for each of them. You can share this code with visitors for self-service door opening. For more information, see the Visitors documentation section.

  • Guest link. A convenient way to provide a guest with access without sharing a key or code. The user creates a link in the mobile app, sets its expiration period and number of openings, and then sends it to the guest through any messenger. The guest opens the door by following the link from a smartphone. The user tracks and revokes active links in the mobile app. For more information, see the Intercom links documentation section of the mobile app.

  • Photo. The intercom supports door opening by face recognition. The feature uses video analytics and allows the system to automatically open doors for authorized visitors, providing a convenient and secure contactless passage without using keys or entering codes. The surveillance system administrator configures face-recognition door opening from the administrator cabinet. After the administrator configures the intercom, end users manage this face recognition access through the mobile app, which includes the feature to upload photos to populate the recognition database. For more information, see the Photo for door opening user guide of the mobile app.
