On the List of keys tab, you find a list of keys associated with the current intercom.
A red color code of a key means that the user of this key doesn’t have permission to use it. For details, see the Apartments tab documentation page.
On the page, use the Search field to search for a relevant key:
-
By key number
-
By username
-
By user login
The Keys start date and Keys end date fields are used to filter the list according to the period when keys are created.
When the Key collection feature is enabled, keys are automatically saved in the list when they are used.
Selecting the Synchronize keys button updates the list of keys by retrieving details about all the added keys from the cloud storage of the intercom. Automatic synchronization with the cloud storage will be performed every five minutes.
Selecting the Download the list of keys button generates a link to an Excel file that contains all the keys. Next, the received list of keys is used to quickly fill in the file with information about the apartments.
Add keys
Keys can be added in three ways:
-
Manual entry – by entering the UID number of the key.
-
Automatic collection – enable the Key collection function and sequentially present keys to the intercom panel reader.
-
RFID reader method – add keys using an RFID reader connected to the computer.
Manual entry
-
In the Administrator interface, navigate Devices > Intercom list
-
Open a relevant intercom card on the List of keys tab.
-
Select Add key.
-
Complete the form that opens:
-
Flat number: the number of the flat must fall within the range of flats specified on the Apartments tab. Completion is optional.
-
Key: specify the UID of the key.
-
Selecting Add generates a new key and assigns it to the selected apartment, if it was specified.
Key collection
When the Key collection function is enabled, the system automatically saves any keys presented to the outdoor panel reader of the intercom.
-
Enable the Key collection function.
-
Present each key to the outdoor panel reader one by one. A sound notification will confirm each successful entry.
-
Disable the Key collection function.
-
Select the Sync keys button
. This will connect to the intercom’s cloud storage to retrieve all added keys. Automatic synchronization with the cloud storage also occurs every five minutes.
RFID reader
You can add key with the RDIF reader.
For this, follow the steps:
-
Connect the RFID reader to your computer.
-
Install the software required to interact with the reader. If necessary, install the specific drivers for the device.
-
Select a relevant key format.
-
Place the key against the reader. Provided the software is correctly set up, the UID will populate the application window in the specified format.
-
Copy the UID to your clipboard.
-
In the VMS Administrator interface, navigate to Devices > Intercom list.
-
Select a relevant intercom and go to the Key list tab.
-
Select Add key.
-
Complete the form that opens:
-
Flat number: the number of the flat must fall within the range of flats specified on the Apartments tab. Completion is optional.
-
Key: paste the key UID from the clipboard.
-
Selecting Add adds this new key and assigns it to the selected apartment, if it was specified.
Example
The following is an example of adding a key using the Z-2 USB RFID reader and PlaceCard software.
-
Download and install the PlaceCard software and the driver for the Z-2 USB reader.
-
Launch PlaceCard.
-
On the Transfer tab:
-
Check the Enabled box.
-
Under the Transfer method section, select Keyboard emulation.
-
On the Formats tab, select the 8 bytes in HEX format.
-
The VMS Administrator interface has a 14-character limit for key UIDs. To meet this requirement, adjust the format in PlaceCard to remove unnecessary characters. To do this, go to the Formats tab in PlaceCard and double-click the 8 bytes in HEX format. This will open the format settings window. In the Template field, update the value to: %.2X%.2X%.2X%.2X%.2X%.2X%.2X
-
In the VMS Administrator interface, navigate to Devices > Intercom list.
-
Select a relevant intercom and go to the Key list tab.
-
Select Add key.
-
Complete the form that opens:
-
Flat number. Specify the flat number. Completion is optional.
-
Key. Place the cursor in the Key field. Place the key against the reader – the UID will autopopulate. Selecting Add adds the key.
Delete a key
To delete a key, select the checkboxes for relevant keys.
Next, select the Delete selected key button to confirm the action.
The Delete button is hidden and deletion is restricted when Key Collection is active.
The Delete all keys enables you to clear unassigned keys, specifically those:
-
Not associated with a user.
-
Not associated with an apartment.
